Rancho Christian Men’s Basketball is taking the game beyond the court and across borders this summer through an unforgettable international experience in China.

Rancho Christian Men’s Basketball is taking the game beyond the court and across borders this summer through an unforgettable international experience in China.

Created in partnership with Lartin Education, the trip brings together basketball, education, cultural exchange, and global connection. Rancho Christian student-athletes are competing, training, exploring, and building relationships while representing their school and community on an international stage.

The journey reflects the broader vision of Rancho Christian’s International Program: helping students expand their worldview, form meaningful connections across cultures, and grow into confident leaders who are prepared for life in an increasingly connected world.

Competition at a Higher Level

Throughout the trip, the Eagles are experiencing a level of competition and attention unlike anything they have encountered at home.

The team is scheduled to compete against one of China’s leading high school basketball programs, currently ranked among the top programs in the nation, while also participating in additional friendly games centered on teamwork, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.

Players are also receiving elite training and instruction, including opportunities to learn from experienced coaches, basketball mentors, and respected voices within the game.

Each practice, game, and training session gives the team another opportunity to sharpen its skills, grow in leadership, and pursue the game at A Higher Standard.

An Incredible Welcome

The team’s arrival has already created memorable moments.

After exploring Hong Kong while navigating stormy weather, the Eagles traveled by bus to Shenzhen for pregame interviews, team photos, and preparation.

The response was remarkable.

Rancho Christian players were welcomed by media, fans, and basketball supporters. Students were asked to sign autographs, pose for photos, and interact with those who had come to see them play. Rancho posters filled the venue as the team prepared to take the court.

For the players, it was an exciting reminder of the reach and influence of basketball. More importantly, it was an opportunity to represent Rancho Christian with humility, gratitude, and professionalism.

More Than Basketball

The experience extends far beyond competition.

During their time in China, the team will visit Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Beijing, exploring the history, traditions, food, architecture, and daily life that make each city unique.

Through sightseeing, cultural activities, interactions with local communities, and time spent alongside Chinese students and athletes, Rancho Christian players are gaining a broader understanding of the world and their place within it.

Basketball may have created the opportunity, but the lessons in adaptability, communication, friendship, and cultural understanding will remain long after the final game.

A Growing Global Partnership

Lartin Education has played an important role in helping coordinate and support the team’s experience in China.

The partnership connects Rancho Christian Athletics with the school’s larger commitment to international education and cultural exchange. It also creates new opportunities for students to learn from one another, experience different cultures, and build relationships that extend beyond geographic borders.

Rancho Christian’s International Program welcomes students from around the world into the school community, providing a Christ-centered college-preparatory education while encouraging connection, belonging, and shared learning.

This trip offers Rancho Christian students the same kind of opportunity in reverse: to step into another culture, listen, learn, and grow.

A Message from Coach Lake

“This trip represents everything we want Rancho Christian Basketball to be about. We want our players to compete at a high level, but we also want them to grow as leaders, build meaningful relationships, and understand that basketball can open doors far beyond the court. Watching our young men represent Rancho with humility, gratitude, and confidence has been incredibly rewarding. We are thankful to Lartin Education and everyone who helped make this experience possible, and we believe the lessons our players bring home will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”

University Ready. Life Ready.

Experiences like this help prepare students for more than their next game.

They challenge young people to communicate across cultures, navigate unfamiliar environments, develop independence, and represent something larger than themselves. These are lessons that support Rancho Christian’s commitment to helping students become both University Ready and Life Ready.

The Eagles’ journey is still unfolding, with more basketball, cultural experiences, and meaningful moments ahead.

Follow along as Rancho Christian Men’s Basketball continues to represent its school, families, and community with pride, humility, and gratitude.

Beyond the game. Beyond borders.
