Women’s Basketball 2025-2026 Season recap
Lady Eagles Compete on the National Stage, Finish Season in Open Division State Playoffs
The 2025–2026 season marked another defining step forward for Your Rancho Christian Lady Eagles, as the program continued to rise—not just across California, but onto the national stage.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Marlon Wells, the Lady Eagles were selected to compete in the Open Division State Playoffs, a clear indicator of the level this program has reached. Throughout the season, Rancho Christian faced elite competition, consistently matching up against some of the best teams in the state and nation. Coach Wells shared that the program is now firmly part of the conversation beyond California, gaining recognition nationally and competing at the highest level of high school basketball.
A Team Defined by Talent, Leadership, and Purpose
This year’s roster featured a dynamic blend of elite talent and selfless leadership.
Alyson Boyd anchored the team with toughness and consistency, embracing the hard work that often goes unseen. Alongside her, Ebony Taylor-Smith established herself as one of the premier shooters in the nation, stretching defenses and delivering in key moments. Together, they helped set the tone for a team built on effort, discipline, and unselfish play.
The rise of Addison Archer added another dimension. Coach Wells spoke of her as one of the top freshmen in the country, highlighting her ability to lead by example while continuing to grow throughout the season. Her impact across scoring, rebounding, and overall play elevated the team and contributed to Rancho Christian’s growing national profile.
Additional contributors like Cori Benjamin and Naomi Kemle brought leadership and experience, with Naomi emerging as a steady and confident presence despite her youth. The result was a team capable of stepping up in big moments and relying on multiple players to carry the load.
Responding to Adversity
The journey was not without challenges.
Facing top-tier competition meant enduring difficult losses at times, but Coach Wells emphasized how the team learned to respond. He shared that one of the biggest areas of growth was the ability to regroup after tough games, rebuild confidence, and return ready to compete.
Another challenge came with depth. With one of the largest rosters in recent years, managing playing time required maturity and trust. Coach Wells noted that the team embraced this well, maintaining strong chemistry and a shared commitment to the bigger picture.
Built by Strong Coaching and a Unified Vision
Coach Wells was quick to point out that this season’s success was built on the strength of the entire coaching staff.
He spoke highly of Coach Williams, Coach Jerry, and Coach Cliff, recognizing the leadership, experience, and stability they bring to the program. Together, the staff has created an environment where players are challenged, supported, and developed at a high level.
Coach Wells emphasized that the team’s willingness to be coached and trust the process has been a defining part of their success. That culture showed up consistently in preparation, discipline, and the team’s ability to stay healthy and compete throughout the season.
A Christ-Centered Culture
At Rancho Christian, basketball is about more than competition. It is about formation.
The Lady Eagles program continues to reflect a commitment to Christ-centered leadership, where hard work, humility, accountability, and love are part of the daily culture. Coach Wells has built a program where athletes understand that everything being poured into them is done with purpose and care.
That foundation was evident in the way the team competed, supported one another, and represented Rancho Christian with integrity throughout the season.
A Growing Program and Community Support
The future of the program continues to shine.
Coach Wells shared his excitement about the growth of the program, including the addition of a strong JV team and increasing interest from younger athletes. With the visibility of Rancho Christian Sports Academy, more families are recognizing Rancho Christian as a destination for both academics and high-level basketball.
He also spoke about the growing support from the community. From packed gyms to increased recognition around town, the Lady Eagles are building something that extends far beyond the court and into the identity of the school.
Gratitude and What’s Ahead
As the season concluded, Coach Wells expressed deep appreciation for the players, coaching staff, and the Rancho Christian community for their trust, commitment, and support over the past year. He emphasized that what has been built is the result of collective belief and continued investment in the program.
The Lady Eagles finished the season with an impressive 26–9 overall record and a 9–1 league mark, advancing through CIF postseason play and into the Open Division State Playoffs, competing against some of the top teams in California and the nation.
With returning players already looking ahead and preparing for the offseason, the focus is clear. The standard continues to rise, and the goal is to go even further.
This program is not just competing.
It is building something lasting.
And the best is still ahead. 💙💛
