"Enrichment at Rancho" is a place where students are able to explore new activities, stimulate their minds, feel empowered, be engaged, and know who they are in Christ.
We truly believe that “play is the work of children.” Through play, children develop physically, cognitively, linguistically, and socially. Our young Eagles have the opportunity to experience all of this each day from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm with the programs and services of Enrichment at Rancho. The RCS Enrichment staff works diligently to partner with parents, teachers, and students on this wonderful educational journey.
What Is Rancho’s Enrichment Program?
“Enrichment at Rancho” is a suite of offerings designed to enhance a student’s Rancho experience beyond the classroom. These offerings are provided in a safe and fun environment with caring staff and instructors. There are five distinct opportunities that comprise the program, each providing its own unique value to the student experience:
Electives; Express Electives; Activities & Special Events; Camps; and Before & After School Care
Elective and Express Electives are constantly being added. Here is a listing of past classes students have enjoyed:
Video Game Design
Bricks 4 Kids
Wonders of Science
Snap Circuits Jr.
Financial Peace Jr.
Fundamentals of Golf
Around the World
My Pencil & Me
Wonders of Clay
Popular Foods Made Healthy
Counted Cross Stitch
Theater Group Fractured Fairy Tails
All Year Baking
Water Color Painting
The goal of our Elective offerings is to expose our young learners to Academic, Athletic, Art, and Leadership concepts and activities so that each young Eagle can tap into his or her full potential.
Electives through Enrichment at Rancho take place on campus once a week for six weeks after school starting at 3:30 pm and ending at 4:30 pm. Electives generally are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. During each session, six to eight Electives are offered.
Students can expect to enjoy a variety of offerings each session, learn something new, and have a lot of FUN!
Enrichment Express Electives:
Express Electives are similar to Electives but are more condensed. Instead of once a week for 6 weeks, Express Electives are completed in one week. The Express Electives can be held before, after, or during a normal Elective Session, and are always scheduled on campus.
Express Electives generally are scheduled Tuesday – Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:40 pm. As with Electives, Express Electives are categorized as Academic, Athletic, Art, or Leadership.
Express Electives are perfect for students who are interested in trying something new without having to commit to a six week session.
Enrichment Activities and Special Events:
A few times during the year, Enrichment at Rancho will host several events on campus in an effort to advance school spirit. Each event varies in size and scope, but kids and fun are always the priority. Examples of these events are:
TEACHERS VS. STUDENTS
Open to all RCS students, Teachers vs. Students is a free, monthly event that takes place immediately after school. Teachers and students battle it out to see who will reign supreme in these games. Each grade level takes a turn hosting the event and light “trash talking” is encouraged!
Games to look forward to are: Dodgeball, “Minute to Win It” Games, Kickball, Relay games, obstacle courses, and much more.
EXTREME KIDS NIGHT OUT
Extreme Kids Night Out events are designed as “No Parents Allowed Zones.” Kids love to send their parents out for some quality time with one another while they learn, play and explore with old and new friends. Trained Enrichment staff will guide kids through a night of adventure, while parents have a fun night to themselves. Each EKNO event has a theme for the night and a wide range of age appropriate activities.
Throughout the school year and summer, Enrichment at Rancho hosts a variety of camps that take place on campus. Each camp is designed around a theme to engage children, broaden their horizons, encourage creativity, and get a little messy. Camps are an outlet for young learners to explore, while keeping their curious minds sharp, during breaks from school. For each camp day, parents can choose from three time frames (Mornings, Afternoons or Full-Day), to best meet their family’s needs.
CAMPS TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
RCS Staff Development Days Camps
Summer camp is a blast from start to finish! Each week revolves around a unique theme such as Shark Week, Stars & Stripes, and Child vs. Wild. During scheduled activities, children will travel in age appropriate groups as they rotate through learning stations. Our goal during summer is to help our kids create friendships, build lasting memories, and have lots of FUN!
Enrichment Before/After Care:
Before School Care: Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 8:30 am
After School Care: Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Families with full schedules can take advantage of our Before and After School Care. With low staff-to-student ratios, and opportunities to participate in exciting learning activities, Before and After School Care is a great way for students to be loved and cared for while mom and dad begin or finish the work day. In addition to snacks and general play time, during the week, students can look forward to participating in these awesome activities:
MONDAY: PE + Computer Lab
WEDNESDAY: Science/ STEM Activities + Pay it Forward
THURSDAY: Art + Library Time
FRIDAY: Group Games + Movie & Games
h2 Club: Of course, students get homework done so family time at home can be just that. “h2 Club” (Homework Help) takes place Mondays – Thursdays.
Instructors for Electives and Express Electives are carefully selected to lead their classes. Whether the class is categorized as Academic, Athletic, Art, or Leadership; high caliber, passionate individuals who are advanced in their fields are sought out to inspire our students. All instructors are background checked prior to teaching any class, and have experience teaching children in all grade levels.
